Monty Meringue was a carnival mime who was part of the pie-throwing atraction in the Carnival of the Damned, along with the Wharf Rat. He was basically the target of cannon which fires pies. When Guybrush Threepwood places an anchor in one of the pies, and asks the Wharf Rat to fire the cannon (seeing as though he appeared too young to do it himself), the Wharf Rat unknowingly fires the heavy weighted pie at the mime, knocking him out.
