The war started after the initial opening of hostiles between NATO and East Germany/Czechoslovakia on October 30th 1961, and the US's second attempted invasion of Cuba in November 1961, which succeded unlike its predesseor. On November 30, The US declared Castro to be dead, and that Cuba was now under US military control. However, the hardships have only started. On December 7, it was discovered that the Soviets had been suppling Cuban insurgents with weapons, even as far as small nuclear weapons. This created the Cuban Crisis, which lasted for the next five days. On December 12, relations and a chance of compromise hit a new low, and thus The Great War began.
