Bill Hampton is a former NASCAR driver from Blountville, TN. He competed in one Nationwide Series event in his career. Stats During his LMS career, Bill also raced at Bristol Motor Speedway, Hickory (NC) Speedway, Smokey Mountain Raceway and served on pit crews at Daytona, Talladega, Charlotte and Martinsville. Bill is not from Blountville, he was raised in Mountain City. After graduating from Johnson County High School in 1967, Bill along with his parents, moved to Johnson City, so he could attend East TN State University while still living at home. Bill is currently living in Johnson City, Tennessee and is a retired Tennessee State Trooper(LT). Bill founded Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 Tennessee in 2003 and served as Chapter President for over 5 years. He currently serves as the Assistant State Director of Rolling Thunder for TN. Rolling Thunder, Inc. is a national non-profit POW/MIA organization. He is also very involved with The VFW, is a life member and served as Post Commander of John Sevier Post 2108 in Johnson City in 2001-02. He is a Vietnam Veteran having served 3 tours during 1969-71. Bill was selected as the Saigon Support Command Soldier of the Month in November 1969, representing over 33,000 troops. He is still very interested in racing, and an avid old Corvette enthusiast (still owns the '67 Coupe he bought in 1970 while home on leave from Vietnam) and enjoys his "face in the wind" on his 2007 Harley Ultra Classic. Bill is now a REALTOR with Century 21 Pro Service Realtors in Johnson City and firm owner/principal auctioneer of Bill Hampton Auction Co. He is active in several civic and community organizations including the Johnson City Kiwanis Club, Johnson City/Washington County Veterans Memorial Committee, the Hospital Guest House Golf Tournament Committee, Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) Tri-Cities Chapter 4912, serves on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Police Federation, and is the current President of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Officers Association (2008-10).
