Born in Kenora, Ontario, he played two seasons in the National Hockey League for the Philadelphia Quakers and Montreal Maroons. He played in a total of only 5 NHL games - one with the Quakers (1930-31) and four with the Maroons (1934-35) - and scored no points. Webster played junior for his hometown Kenora Thistles from 1927-30. He then joined the senior Weyburn Beavers in 1930-31 and also played for the Quakers that season. In 1931-32 he played for the senior Fredericton Capitals. He died in Kenora in 1999.
