An expert marksman and formidable infiltrator, he participated in the defense of Shogun from Mandalore Cadden Blackthorne and his Mandalorian Protectors. While defeated, he admired Blackthorne's powress in battle, and swore his loyalty to the new Mandalore, an act that was soon followed by the rest of his clan. Upon the Protectors' victory at Shogun, Blackthorne appointed Goran the rank of alor'ad (captain) in the Black Brigade, where he lead 130 shock troopers in special operations missions behind enemy lines. Goran reminded Blackthorne much of himself; silent, serious, and callous. This often caused some controvery in his capabilities as a leader, but was often silenced by his demonstration of his capabilities to lead his Company during the New Mandalorian Crusade.
