In Brandon's flashback in Chapter 52, he is shown at the facility and is seen being injected with Chemical X by Mitsuki. This was apparently Brandon's first time at the facility. Mitsuki offers him some tea and some soup, and then welcomes him to his new home at the facility. In Chapter 55, Brandon and Mitsuki had passed through a row of doors, Brandon looked at one of the laboratories on the left (which had clear glass rather than doors), and saw a girl in a white straight jacket and wearing a white electric collar around her neck. The girl had green eyes and brown hair (Bailey). As soon as she'd seen Brandon she'd screamed and kicked wildly. A few of the scientists tried to calm her down, but when that didn't work they injected her with a type of drug. Her screaming turned into soft pant

Brandon had asked Mitsuki who the girl was, and Mitsuki responds by saying she's the "Failed Experiment". Brandon had no idea what she meant, but Mitsuki quickly explained that people who do not make it through the training or with the help of the medicine, will go crazy, claim that they can see "ghosts" or "visions of the future". But the people who did make it, like Brandon and herself, will eventually end up having a whole new level of power and will not die from any cause that can kill a human. Brandon asks her what she means by "any cause that can kill a human", Mitsuki explains that they are no longer human, but what the scientists call "patients". Later on, Mitsuki and Brandon had attempted to run away and escape the facility together. On their last day before they planned to escape the facility, Brandon got on his knees and asked her to marry him, Mitsuki was hesitate at first but had said yes to his proposal. When they escaped, Brandon had lost sight of her and tried to look for her, but one of the guards had seen and shot Brandon, so badly that he was near death and wanted to be with Mitsuki for the last time. Mitsuki defeated the guards, and using the last of her power absorbed all of Brandon's wounds and had died in his place instead.
