Being under the guise of Section 31 drove Pressman mad, causing him to sabotage the cloaking device and fake his death. He escaped to Regula's secret cavern without notice. In the year 2285, the station housed Project Genesis and its team under the direction of Dr. Carol Marcus. Using the USS Reliant in 2285, the station was attacked by Khan Noonien Singh in his attempt to steal the Genesis Device and lure Admiral James T. Kirk into a trap. Kirk captained the USS Enterprise and came to the station to investigate and rescue the remaining personnel. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)
