Standing at three metres high, De Gaulle was never included in any escape committee or tunnelling unit. His height ruled him out from everything and this exclusion may explain my De Gaulle would later turn out to be an awkward bastard for allies and foes alike. In 1944, in the midst of the Battle of the Bulge, de Gaulle is thought to have said Please don't eat it to his future wife. It was spring, and in Paris.
