The Cheeselands (URC), marking it's emergence into the world of international sports, officially announced it's intention to participate in the 2008 Transvaal World Cup on Feburary 2, 2008. The opening ceremony for the tournament took place on February 29 with the games officially starting on March 1. The Cheeselands defeated their initial odds of ranking 21st after the first 14 days and the end of the preliminaries, however on March 15 the Cheeselands lost it's first placement game to Jalop. After this lose the Cheeselands fell a couple of places but achieved 23rd place with it's final victory over Yala Misr on March 17.
