The player chooses his actions and choices through menu options. The way you make money, and gain ranks, is by having your monster fight in tournaments. In a fight, your monster and its opponent both start with 50 Guts, which is basically energy to spend on the moves they know; Guts regenerate over the course of the battle, but slowly. You can control the monster yourself or let it fight on their own.

You can control the monster yourself or let it fight on their own. Moves can be done in one of three ranges: Close, Medium, or Long. You may move forward and backward on the battlefield in order to switch between the ranges. If you get in very close, you can also expend Guts to push your opponent away from you, though this sometimes fails. Money may be spent on items at the Market, Drills or Errantries at the Guide, or Farm upgrades, which will be offered by a man who comes around on the first week of October in every year. These upgrades are very important, as they will enable you to raise large monster species such as Golem and Dragon and decrease the amount of Fatigue and Stress that builds up in your monster.
