abstract
| - The FA Cup fourth qualifying round game between Bristol Rovers and Weymouth on 17 November 1900 was a record breaking win for the Rovers team. It was the biggest winning margin in a competitive game for the Pirates, as well as the only time a Rovers player has scored six goals in a game, and the only time three different Rovers players scored hat-tricks in the same game. The game itself was sparsely attended, as Rovers were expected to win comfortably, and the meagre crowd saw Rovers race into a 5-0 lead in the first half. The Weymouth centre-forward, Murphy, pulled a goal back before half time, but it proved to be a hopeless challenge for the south coast team as Rovers scored aa further ten goals in the second half. All five of Rovers front line made it onto the scoresheet, with inside-right Jack Jones netting a double hat-trick. Billy Clarke and Billy Williams each scored hat-tricks, Hillary Griffiths scored a brace and John Paul only managing a single goal.
