| - This is a list of ice hockey players who have played at least 1000 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) through the end of the 2009-10 NHL regular season. 250 players have played at least 1,000 NHL games, varying in amounts between Bernie Federko's 1000 to Gordie Howe's 1767 games played. Virtually all of these records are dominated by Canadian players, due to the traditional popularity of ice hockey in Canada. In the past, most NHL players were from Canada, and even today roughly half of all NHL players are born in Canada. To distinguish Canadians (or players who played in international competition for Team Canada) from non-Canadians, the Canadian flag (Image:Flag of Canada.svg.png) will not be shown next to Canadian players. The country listed for a player (if other than Canada) represents the most recent international team for which the player played, which may not necessarily be the country in which the player was born. For instance, Brett Hull is listed with the American flag (Image:Flag of the United States.png) even though he was born in Canada, because in international competition, he played for Team USA. Likewise, Sergei Zubov is listed as a Russian (Image:Flag of Russia.png), even though he also played internationally for the former Soviet Union (Image:Flag of the Soviet Union.png) and for the 1992 Unified Team.
