He played in 6 NHL games with the Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks. He played junior hockey with the St. Paul Vulcans from 1992 to 1994. He then joined the North Dakota Fighting Sioux from 1994 to 1998. Henderson led the team to the 1997 NCAA championship and was named the tournament most valuable player. Henderson was not drafted by any NHL team and signed as a free agent with the Nashville Predators in 1998. He played two scoreless games for them in 1998-99. In 1999 he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for Paul Healey. In 2001 he was signed as a free agent by the Chicago Blackhawks and played four games for them in 2001-02, scoring an assist. He retired in 2004 after playing a season with the Iserlohn Roosters in Germany.
