Nicola prepares to go to Scarborough to bag her man, but is put out when she discovers Jack, Val and Victoria are catching a lift with her and Marlon. Sick and tired of Nicola’s questioning Simon shouts that he and Tash are not together and storms off. Will Simon back down? Meanwhile, Diane hides from Rodney who finds her and tells her it is typical of her to drop a bombshell and then run away from him. Diane feels uncomfortable but Rodney is still unsure how to respond as he holds her close. Later that day, Val and Jack turn up at the funeral and are told that Rodney and Diane seemed eager to leave together. Jack is furious and when he finally catches up with them on the promenade he punches Rodney in the face. Rodney realises that Jack doesn’t know that Diane has cancer and pleads with Diane to tell Jack the truth. Diane runs off and Rodney is left to explain to Jack that his fiancé has cancer.
