Jack Mackenzie is the father of the main protagonist, William in The Long Dark. He is the owner of Mackenzie & Son Remote Air Transport and husband of Marie. When William was 23, Jack crashed in the wilderness, losing his plane and their family's way of life. Though William rescued him, the Mackenzie family fell on tough times. In desperation years later, Jack turned to "unseemly" characters in order to obtain a new plane. He was unable to fly himself, convincing his son to fly in his stead. He did not, however, tell him of his shady deal.
