The Eddicus-class planetary shuttles were planetary shuttles utilized by members of the Galactic Senate on the galactic capital planet of Coruscant. Named for Supreme Chancellor Anwis Eddicus, the craft was developed by a Senate committee as an atmospheric counterpart to the Corellian Engineering Corporation's Consular-class space cruiser. At the behest of committee member Senator Palpatine of Naboo, the task was taken to Kuat Systems Engineering, although the rest of the committee did not know that Palpatine had secret ties to the Kuati company. As a result, the Naboo Senator was able to have secret listening devices built into all the craft, allowing him to obtain exclusive insider information. When deployed, the Eddicus-class became a mainstay in the skies of the Senate District.

De passagiers van de shuttle werden beschermd door middel van Deflector Shields, terwijl geluidsdempende velden en tegenmaatregelen zorgden dat er geen elektronische spionage mogelijk was. De specificaties van deze features waren geheim, en enkel bekend bij bepaalde leden van het comité. Bovenop de shuttle was een uitkijkpost voor beveiligingspersoneel met een koepel van Transparisteel. Naast de geclassificeerde technologie binnenin de shuttle werden er ook apparaten met een duister doel geplaatst. Palpatine’s ware reden om voor KSE te kiezen was, dat hij geheime banden had met de corporatie. De beveiligingsapparatuur van de shuttle was aangevuld met afluisterapparatuur, waarvan de opnamen alleen door Palpatine en een selecte groep technici bereikbaar waren. De Chancellors Finis Valorum en Kalpana hadden geen idee van het bestaan van deze apparatuur. In de jaren na de invoer van de shuttles stonden veel Senators versteld van de verrassende inzichten, die hun collega van Naboo naar voren bracht in de sessies van de Galactic Senate.
