In the ritual, Zaros' evil layers of cloth consume the bodies, and possess them. All of the victim's (willing or not) soul is removed, giving them they're name-The Soulless. They look like humans, draped in blue cloth with a slit at the mouth (where a fresh victim's soul is drawn in and given to Bandos). They also have skeletal blue hands, which they use to claw at their opponents.

- Gwen Cooper first encountered the Soulless during a large candlelight vigil in Washington DC. Participants in the vigil walked silently and wore simple white masks depicting sad faces. (TV: Dead of Night)
