Chuck Taine gained his power of super-bouncing when he accidentally swallowed the contents of a bottle of a chemical formula thinking it was soda. After being initally rejected for membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes, he later proved his worth and was accepted. At one point he lost his power, and had to retire to the Legion Reserve, but his power was later restored. He had a long and distinguished career in the Legion, eventually taking a part-time status while he managed the Legion Academy, together with his wife, Luornu Durgo (Duo Damsel).
