  • Celaeno is the chieftess of the harpy race near Greece. Virgil wrote about her in his work the Aeneid.
  • Celaeno was a harpy whom Aeneas encountered at Strophades. She gave him prophecies of his coming journeys. She was one of three sisters, each of whom represented a different aspect of a great storm. She was described as the lover of the west wind, Zephyrus, and with him bore the talking horses of Achilles, Balius and Xanthus. She is the sister of Aello and Ocypete, and is second eldest of the three sisters. Celaeno is associated with darkness and her name literally means "dark" or "the vague one".
  • Celaeno may be beautiful, but her personality is cold and aloof, preferring to avoid making connections among her fellow Decepticons. Her aloofness is born of her role as a "Wild Weasel," known to be high-casualty work, and she has seen many comrades fall in combat. Despite her attempt to isolate herself from the others, she has formed a bond with two of her fellow Eisen Dragoons, the scout Stratosphera and the crazy Novacula.
  • Celaeno is a star, one of the Pleiades star cluster in the constellation of Taurus, and according to the Hastur Mythos the site of a mysterious library of lore, apparently connected with Carcosa. It is sometimes known as the 'Lost Pleiad' as it is difficult to see. See also Naotalba.
  • In Greek mythology, Celaeno (pronounced: /sɨˈliːnoʊ/; Ancient Ancient Greek: Κελαινώ Kelaino, lit. 'the dark one', also Celeno or Kelaino, sometimes [misspelled] Calaeno) referred to several different figures.
