When humans stole the Icarians' wings, humans broke a law of nature and darkness covered the entire world. To prevent the darkness from spreading, the Icarians built the End of the World, a large continent-spanning wall. Centuries later, the darkness became mist, and the Icarians, out of pity, gave the humanoids dwelling near the end of the world some nuts to clear away the mist. Because of such, the people of the village of Luc regarded Mist-Clearing Nuts as sacred as shown when the Elder at first refused to give one to Justin.
