- Lexi and Duck are out buying lunch for the other Loonatics when suddenly an earthquake occurs that sinks parts of Acmetropolis into the ground. The team finds that an evil genius named Dr. Dare plans to place the entire planet underground through a series of earthquakes with the help of the Jade Serpent Crystal. The Loonatics must stop him and return Acmetropolis to its original form.
- "Going Underground" is the first British number-one chart single by The Jam, released in March 1980. It went straight in at number one in the UK Singles Chart,[1] a rare feat at the time, and spent three weeks at the top.[2] It was the first of three instant chart-toppers for the group.

- While Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails are out on patrol in the woods of the Emerald Hill Zone, they encounter a gang bullying a worm. When they refuse to stop making fun of him, Sonic jumps in and attacks the bullys, leaving the worm to escape. Tails follows him, but the worm doesn't seem to happy about it, telling Tails not to follow him. As the worm jumps into a hole, Tails can't stop and ends up falling in after him. Sonic is left on the surface, puzzled as to the whereabouts of his friend.
- Letts and Newbery explained how the caves were not complete, with filming soon to come. To deal with this, the BBC took people off other shows to finish the set. Letts theorised that CSO could have been used with a Dinosaur puppet instead of the costume that was actually used. Combe tried to keep the suspense of the story going for as long as possible. He did this by not filming the Silurians directly. Combe also had the idea to use three lenses to achieve the "Silurian view" effect.
