The Telecommunications Action Plan for Remote Indigenous Communities (TAPRIC) is a program administered by the Australian Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA). It will improve telecommunications services to Indigenous communities. It includes the development of interactive language training resources for use by communities that will allow five Indigenous language groups across Australia to have access to language resources online. Indigenous communities will also benefit from RTI initiatives such as improved access to broadband services, IT training and support services, the requirement upon Telstra to maintain a local presence, and regular reviews of the telecommunications needs of regional Australia.
