The Quod is the explosive ball used in the game of Quodpot. The first Quod was created accidentally during Abraham Peasegood's trip to the United States when his wand came into contact with a Quaffle in his trunk. After the ball exploded in his face, Peasegood recreated the effect, and developed the game of Quodpot around the exploding ball.

For each Quod that is safely handled into a pot, the scoring team gains a point. If the Quod explodes while in the possession of a player, that player must leave the field of play.
