The Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball program is a storied NCAA Division I bastketball program that produces the men's basketball teams representing the University of Kansas. As of 2012, the Jayhawks have won five national titles and appeared in __ Final Fours. Under legendary coach Bobby Pinsarelli, the Jayhawks were a dominant program in the 1980's and early 1990's, and had a renaissance in the late 1990's after a brief mediocre spell in the mid-1990's, going to four straight Final Fours from 1998-2001, including three following Pinsarelli's retirement after their 1998 championship under his protege Billy Castle. The Jayhawks had a storied rivalry with Notre Dame during the 1980's, when they regularly faced off during the NCAA Tournament, most notably in Final Four and Championship games.
