Within the research facility, a deactivated army of atronachs were uncovered, which ultimately sparked a retaliation by the Charon Dominion and began the Battle of the Otherworld. Unique even to the modern galactic community, atronachs were mechanical entities forged entirely from compressed and compacted nanomachines. Due to having possessed an inherently unstable matrix core, atronachs were capable of transforming parts of their chassis to suit their circumstantial requirements, whether it be weaponry, tools, or even anti-gravitational repulsorlifts. Every atronach had base programming which adapted as the atronach attained experience, enabling an atronach to gain greater proficiency at a particular task, if desired by its owner. In addition, made possible due to the mutable state of their chassis, atronachs could "imbue" other technologies into their programming routines and then manifest such technologies within their physical construct. This occurred as a result of the optical systems of the atronach, which enabled the machines to analyze the composition of matter at its most base, subatomic form. In effect, an atronach could incorporate new designs within themselves merely by looking at and examining the article of technology, and then reprogram the nanomachines of their transformation matrix to reproduce the examined technology from the subatomic level. As a consequence of their destructive potential, most of the galaxy considered the atronachs to have effectively been categorized as superweapons, in spite of militaristic measures not having been part of their primary purpose. Because they were created by the Kathol, the atronachs were fundamentally designed to communicate and interact with the directives of Force-sensitive's minds, as opposed to the more mainstream and traditional methods of robotic programming. However, it was later discovered that the atronachs responded only to a Kathol consciousness, effectively making Epizon the sole individual capable of controlling them.
