He played Tier II Junior "A" hockey for the Penticton Knights from 1982 to 1985 and then college hockey with the University of North Dakota from 1985 to 1987. The Detroit Red Wings chose him in the 1986 NHL Supplemental Draft but never signed him. The Vancouver Canucks signed him as a free agent in 1987. He remained with the Admirals until 1993 when he was traded to the Cincinnati Cyclones. He finished off his career with the Chicago Wolves in 1994-95.

The Detroit Red Wings chose him in the 1986 NHL Supplemental Draft but never signed him. The Vancouver Canucks signed him as a free agent in 1987. Kidd spent most of the 1987-88 season with the Fredericton Express of the American Hockey League, but also played in 19 games for the Canucks, scoring 4 goals and 7 assists. The next year he played for the Milwaukee Admirals of the International Hockey League (IHL) and played one last game for the Canucks. He remained with the Admirals until 1993 when he was traded to the Cincinnati Cyclones. He finished off his career with the Chicago Wolves in 1994-95.
