Régiments Etrangers de Parachutistes or REP (Foreign Parachute Regiments) were elite units of the French Army, part of the French Foreign Legion. They were formed out of the earlier BEP (Bataillions Etrangers de Parachutistes) which operated in Indochina during the Indochina War (1948–1954). They took part in the Algerian War. 1 REP was dissolved in 1961 for taking part in a putsch against the French administration in Algeria. 2 REP took part in the Kolweizi operation in Zaire in 1978. It is currently based in Calvi, Corsica.
