The purpose of the Fort Anchorage's establishment was in response to the United States' acknowledgment of the existence of the Chimera. It is where the first nuclear bomb was created by scientists such as Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer. On January 1st, 1951 the Chimera invaded Alaska from Russia and took over the base. Sentinel Team Alpha were assigned to reclaim a nuclear bomb which was still located in the fort. During the operation, Fort Anchorage was subsequently destroyed when a Chimeran airship plowed into the base.
