  • Most monsters will keep their focus on a single player; however, some monsters have an aggression that regularly refreshes, targeting different players each time. Examples of monsters which do this are vitali and the Corporeal Beast.
  • Monsters will not be aggressive to players who are double that monster's combat level. For example, a level 51 Moss Giant will not be aggressive towards players who are combat level 102 and higher. As the maximum combat level that players can achieve is 138, aggressive monsters level 70 or greater will always be aggressive to players.
  • Agressiveness is the term used to describe if a monster is hostile of not. Monsters are aggresive if they attack players without first being engaged. This article is a stub. You can help the My English Wiki by [ expanding it].
  • Aggressiveness (or hostility) refers to whether monsters in RuneScape will attack nearby players without being provoked. Aggressive monsters may attack players without being attacked first; some are aggressive based on players' combat levels, and others are aggressive regardless of level such as various bosses and monsters in the Wilderness. Aggressive monsters can be particularly dangerous in a multi-combat area with multiple monsters. Non-aggressive, or passive, monsters will not attack players unless they are attacked first.

  • Aggressiveness (or hostility) refers to the behaviour in RuneScape Classic in which some monsters will attack players automatically if they come within a certain range. This heeds players more in RuneScape Classic than in RuneScape 2, due to the combat system in RuneScape Classic preventing players from retreating for the first 3 rounds of combat. Aggressive monsters will also usually follow a retreating player for a certain distance. On this wiki, monsters are described using 5 levels of hostility:

This heeds players more in RuneScape Classic than in RuneScape 2, due to the combat system in RuneScape Classic preventing players from retreating for the first 3 rounds of combat. Aggressive monsters will also usually follow a retreating player for a certain distance. However, with most aggressive monsters, if a player reaches a combat level that is one more than twice the monster's level, it will not be aggressive to that player any more. This rule does not apply inside the wilderness. In RuneScape 2, there is a rule wherein monsters which are normally aggressive will stop being aggressive after a player has been in their vicinity for a set time. This rule is not present in RuneScape Classic. This makes AFK training more viable. On this wiki, monsters are described using 5 levels of hostility:

Deze regel geldt bijna overal! De Wildernis vormt hierbij een uitzondering. Bijna elk monster in de Wildernis is agressief. Van een Mugger van level 6 tot de Chaos Elemental van level 305. Dit gebeurt ook op het eiland Ape Atoll, waar spelers heen kunnen tijdens en na het voltooien van de Quest Monkey Madness. Categorie:Beginners guide en:Aggressiveness
Some monsters, such as chompies and jubblies, will not attack a player even if engaged in Combat. Yet, others, most notably dark beasts and bosses, remain hostile no matter how long the player remains in the vicinity. When aggressiveness is based on Combat level, an aggressive monster will attack a player whose combat level is less than or equal to twice the monster's level. If the player's combat level is more than twice the monster's level, it won't attack (i.e. double the monster's combat level plus one). For example, a level 51 player enters an area with a level 28 hobgoblin. Since the player's level is less than twice the monster's level (28 × 2 = 56, which is more than 51), the hobgoblin will attack the player. Conversely, if a level 105 player enters an area with a level 28 hobgoblin, the monster will not attack because the player's level is more than twice the monster's. In this case, the hobgoblin will ignore the player (unless, of course, the player decides to attack the monster). Thus, the player would need to be level 57 or higher to avoid being attacked by the hobgoblin. Different monsters seem to have different levels of aggression; some, such as jungle horrors, will seek you out from many spaces away, whereas others, such as mountain trolls, are aggressive on a smaller range.
