| - Howard Peterson is a character portrayed by George Newbern in the ABC crime series Castle. Howard was the employer of the murder victim, Sara Manning, who was the nanny for his son, Justin. After Sara's friend, Chloe Richardson, explained that Sara would usually only stay late at the Peterson's place on the nights that Howard's wife, Claudia, would be at work, Castle and Beckett initially think that he was having an affair with Sara and that he knew something about her being murdered. When Castle and Beckett confronted Howard with this information, he admitted that he was having an affair, just not with Sara – he was actually having an affair with a female co-worker of his. When Castle and Beckett found that Claudia had lied about working late the night that Sara was murdered, they initially think that she was the one who murdered Sara. However, when they confronted Claudia about it, she revealed that knew her husband was having an affair with another woman, as Sara had told her just a few weeks earlier – it's revealed that Howard had been paying Sara extra money to lie to his for him, but Sara was wracked with guilt and eventually confessed what was really going on to Claudia. Claudia explained to Castle and Beckett that she was at her lawyer's office the night that Sara was murdered, as after she found out from Sara that Howard was having an affair, she made secret plans and arrangements to "serve him" with divorce papers without warning.
