| - Guitar Hero: Masters of Metal is a music video game developed by Neversoft and distributed by Activision. The game was released in North America on the PlayStation 3, Wii, and XBox 360 on June 15th 2009 and on PlayStation 2 on August 3rd, then released globablly on August 12th. Guitar Hero: Masters of Metal is a spinoff from the main series, following Guitar Hero 5. A followup, Guitar Hero: Metal Gods was released later in 2009. The game is based on Guitar Hero: World Tour, with support for lead and bass guitar, drums, and vocals. The game has many of the same features from World Tour, including single-player and band Career modes, online competitive modes, and the ability to create and share songs through "GHTunes". The game focuses, as suggested, on the music genre of metal, and features a wider range of metal. Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil, Matt Tuck of Bullet For My Valentine, and Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride all lent their image to the game and appear as playable avatars, with the exception of Stainthorpe assigned only to the My Dying Bride songs on the game.
