  • Born at Todi, the son of Francesco d'Alviano and Isabella degli Atti, Bartolomeo fought very early in his life in Central Italy, serving in the Papal States and, in 1496, the Orsini family against Pope Alexander VI and the Colonna. He was buried in the church of Santo Stefano in Venice.
  • Wyrósł na sprytnego i zaradnego żołnierza. Po wielu latach spędzonych w Wenecji, podczas której wspierał Ezio Auditore w jego wysiłkach skierowanych przeciwko Silvio Barbarigo i Dante Moro w Arsenale, Bartomoleo przystał do rodu Orsini w 1496 r., żeby walczyć przeciwko papieżowi i Cesare, którzy pragneli przejąć włości Orsinich. Zanim padł z ręki Cesare, najstarszy syn papieża, Juan Borgia – książę Gandii, prowadził przeciwko niemu nieudaną kampanię. Podczas oblężenia Bracciano, Bartolomeo wysłał za mury osła z tablicą przywieszoną do szyi, która głosiła: „Puść mnie wolno, jestem ambasadorem księcia Gandii”. List przywiązany do ogona zawierał całkiem pokaźny zbiór innych obelg.
