South Ferry is a station on the New York City Subway's Broadway-Seventh Avenue Line and is served by the Local Number 1 service. It is the southern terminus for the line. South Ferry is a two track station set on a loop, an inner one and an outer one. The outer loop is today used by # 1 trains. The inner loop is abandoned; it used to serve the Bowling Green-South Ferry Shuttle. Since the station is set on a curve, the gap between the platform and car doors is dangerous. There are special gap-fillers in place that extend out to the rail car door when a train hits a switch on the trackbed. There are signs and announcements to "Stand clear of the moving platform!"
