Scriptfic was fairly common at FanFiction.Net up until 2006, when it was banned due to a steady influx of chatfic for the Pokémon fandom, and all scriptfics were removed. Most writers who preferred scriptfic relocated to other sites or gave up fanfiction entirely. In recent years new scriptfics have shown up once more due to the steady laxation of FanFiction.Net's staff.

Scripts for AUs or sequels to plays in continua like Les Misérables, Wicked, or Sweeney Todd also have a higher chance of being goodfic.
