- Every Autobot has a purpose, be it as a leader, a warrior, a healer, or a scout. Smokescreen's purpose, however, is to charm and deceive. His job is to conceal the Autobots' true mission and lead the enemy astray, and he's not above flat-out cheating to get the job done. Off the battlefield, he uses his naturally friendly and sociable nature to get in close with his Autobot comrades... then reports back to Optimus Prime, giving the Autobot leader an on-the-ground perspective on what his troops are thinking.
- His job is to lead the enemy astray. Whether engaged in raging battle or friendly conversation, an ulterior motive usually exists. Sneaky, but charming and affable ... roots out the deepest concerns of comrades at Rodimus Prime's request. In car mode, emits thick smoke from tailpipe, which is attracted to metal. - Smokescreen originally appeared in "Dinobot Island pt 1". Smokescreen was used quite frequently in season 2, taking the starring role in the episode "The Gambler". This saw him strike a deal with a gambler named Bosh in order to save his fellow Autobots—he would win energon for Bosh if Bosh used some to restore the others. Predictably cheating his way to victory, he was caught and lost all his winnings. With the help of Devcon, he and Bosh ended up battling and defeating Astrotrain, Dirge and Ramjet. After this Bosh freed the other Autobots. The cartoon actually made use of his abilities—in "The Key to Vector Sigma", for example, his smoke saved the Autobots' super-fuel after Prowl's security detail was compromised, and in "Auto Berzerk" he downed the famed Seekers—including Starscream—wit
- I purr contentedly as my owners stroke my thick coat of fur. Stretching luxuriously, I yawn, and jump on top of the window sill, my favorite place to relax in this whole house. Leaves are falling in thick clumps of red and yellow outside, a dark night sky above the mounds of color, it's an enchanting sight. I look at my barely visible reflection on the window, and a green-eyed tom with a mottled gray and black coat stares back, a ghostly apparaition of myself. Smokescreen is what they call me. It fits so perfectly, my pelt blending in with the mist of the morning air, or the darkness of the night. When my owners found me, I was barely visible, my green eyes glowing in the dark, so young that I was barely weaned of my mother's milk. They found me alone, abandoned, motherless, in what they ca
- Whether engaged in raging battle or friendly conversation, seldom is Smokescreen up to what he appears to be up to. More likely, an ulterior purpose exists. In combat, his job is to lead the enemy astray, to prevent him from discovering the true nature of an Autobot strategy until it is too late for the enemy to counter it. It is a job he performs with great proficiency. His duplicity carries over to his personal affairs as well. Charming and affable, it is easy for Smokescreen to use his genuine camaraderie with his fellow Autobots in order to root out their deepest concerns. And, at Optimus Prime's request, that is exactly what Smokescreen does, because Optimus feels that his role as Autobot leader creates a personal barrier between himself and his followers that he cannot overcome alone
