When the UNSC were faced with an all-out civil war due to their mishandling of the Far Isle Incident, many companies in both the military and civilian sectors saw the potentially profitable venture of updating the UNSC's naval and groundside assets much earlier than their targeted customer admitted. Not only could the more traditional companies barter for research funds, but those with previously no military contacts had the opportunity to create their own products independently in hopes that the governments may adopt it. The latter were particularly economically risky, since not only did they have to fund their own developments, but they still needed to compete with dozens of other designs which would fulfill the same purpose.

| - When the UNSC were faced with an all-out civil war due to their mishandling of the Far Isle Incident, many companies in both the military and civilian sectors saw the potentially profitable venture of updating the UNSC's naval and groundside assets much earlier than their targeted customer admitted. One of the naval ships which were a success were the Iapetus-class Corvettes, a small class of ships built by the little-known Dormant subsidiary Kingslander Shipbreaking in collaboration with SinoViet Heavy Machinery. A unique ship, it was designed to embark on missions given to frigates or destroyers but on the undersized superstructure of a corvette. Because of this, while it lacked the straight-line acceleration characterised by its class and was equipped with less-than-stellar armour plating, it had a large assortment of weapons, an impressive amount of storage for groundside assaults and surprisingly fast turning speeds. While expensive when compared to other corvettes, it was still far cheaper than ordering a larger ship, which contributed to its success in the UNSC. Though it was produced for the better part of ten years, it was eventually replaced by the Mako-class Corvette.
