Before the invasion of Mars by the Imperium, J'onn lived a normal life with his wife, My'ria'h, and his two children. After the invasion, J'onn's wife and children died, J'onn took part in the war, and was a member of the strike team that launched his people's final, desperate offensive. J'onn succeeded in releasing the nerve gas that placed the invaders in suspended animation. As the last known surviving member of the strike team, and of the entire Martian race, J'onn then sealed the invaders' underground headquarters to keep them entombed, and stood guard over it for 500 years.

    • J'onn J'onzz (born 1699), commonly referred to as the "Martian Manhunter", is the last of the Green Martians. Born and raised on the planet Mars J'onn is the sole survivor of a "Martian Holocaust" instigated by the White Martians that also killed his entire family. J'onn fled to Earth and stayed hidden for centuries until he was discovered by D.E.O. Director Hank Henshaw. After Jeremiah Danvers sacrificed himself to save J'onn by killing Hank, the Martian began posing as director Henshaw to reform the D.E.O. for its intended purpose and became an ally of Kara Danvers/Supergirl's. Eventually J'onn finds himself forced to reveal his true identity and became a fugitive, however, after having helped to save the world from Non and Indigo assisting Supergirl in defeat them, J'onn received a full
