Istanbul Soda was founded in 1948 by two Turkish businessmen. The drinks became really popular and the company grew. They originally only offered a cola flavour, but expanded their flavors line in the 1950s. In the 1970s, Coca-Cola wanted to buy Istanbul. They refused the deal and instead went into talks with Rudyear-Montpelier and reached a deal in 1973. RM was in turn taken over by Federal Foods.
