  • Dennis Owchar (born March 28, 1953) is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman who played 288 games in the National Hockey League, scoring 30 goals and 85 assists. He played with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Colorado Rockies. Owchar was selected 74th overall in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He went on the play parts of four seasons with the Pens while making the occasional excursion to the minors with the Hershey Bears. During his time in Pittsburgh, he provided a solid blueline presence that helped keep his team above .500. As the club's strength in the standings slipped, however, he was dispatched to the lowly Colorado Rockies in 1977-78. In 1979, the Rockies traded Owchar to the Los Angeles Kings' organization where he played with the New Haven Nighthawks for two seasons before injuries forced an end to his career
