| - The Mako-class Battlecruisers were a uniquely-designed class of warship designed by AEC Shipyards for use by the Griffon Armada. Until their appearance in late 10 ABY, the Armada relied upon warships acquired from defections, extensive reclamations and overhauls, or other dubious methods. AEC is well known in the galaxy for designing small crafts. For long, the Griffons had had no capital ship design of their own; the Mako-class is AEC's answer to that fact. Three Makos were built secretly before the Third Battle of Sluis Van. Two perished, struck by the Death Star's Superlaser. The only Mako known to be still in existence is the GSS Gabriel, figurehead of the Griffon Alliance Navy. This ship packs a lot of punch compared to its small size - 500 meters in length and about 400 meters across its beam. It is composed of a large central hub with a bow and stern protrusion off of it. The vessel is armed with forty ion cannons, forty turbolasers, dorsal- and ventral-mounted triple ion gun batteries, ten proton torpedo launchers and a tractor beam projector. This is not a large amount of firepower for such a large ship, and Mako battlecruisers must work together along with Mantaray fighters and Stingray attack craft against their enemies. The triple ion gun batteries rotate freely on mountings above and below the central hub, allowing fresh cannons to fire while the others recharge. They have hangar space for three squadrons of starfighters. Their complement of proton torpedoes gives them good defences against Starfighter attacks. Craft ........
