Greece is a member of the Anti-Soviet pact and is one of the few independent nations in Eastern Europe. Following WW2 it was involved in a brutal civil war between the socialists, soviets and the monarchists. Eventualy the socialists won the civil war and with the help of Spain and Yugoslavia, Greece has emerged as the second largest independent nation in the Balklans.
