Gyula Horn (July 5, 1932 - September 2, 2010) was a Hungarian Communist politician, and Secretary General of the MSZMP (Hungarian Socialist Worker's Party) between 1996 and 2005. He took over when previous Secretary General, Károly Grósz died. He resigned nine years after, because of failing health. In his final years, he was hospitalized, and passed away suffering from Alzheimer's and lung cancer in 2010.
