The Halloween invasion is a Syndicate attack on Whateley Academy during the Halloween party in 2006. It was initially planned by Rev. Englund to be a limited attempt to kill The Kellith. According to Syndicate leader Dominus it was originally to be led by Nimbus, but control over the operation unilaterally seized by Deathlist in violation of direct orders and transferred to Chessmaster, who used it to attempt to assassinate most of Team Kimba, as part of what appears to be his rivalry with Mrs. Potter. The Chessmaster used his private army of Chessmen to avoid spilling his plan to the rest of the Syndicate forces.

Planning for the invasion occurs through most of the Insanity Prerequisite series of stories, culminating in The Devil's Dance: Part Two and Insanity Prerequisite: Part 4 - Reincarnation. The head of the Syndicate disavowed the Chessmaster's intervention. “Elizabeth, I’m offering this, because of what happened on Halloween. As I told you on November First, what I signed off on was a simple request for Security assistance from your Reverend Englund. He said that his trainee monster hunters had identified an unacceptable risk level entity that had taken up residence on Academy grounds, and they couldn’t risk running the beast to ground due to the risk of the students getting involved. The Sabertooths were to support Englund’s monster hunters in a brute force manhunt, using the annual Halloween celebrations as cover, while the Tiger Guard quarantined the area. There was NO suggestion that the actual target was a student, let alone the Kellith. And there was absolutely NOTHING in the request that even suggested attacking other students, or the implied looting of the school.” Of course, you're at liberty to believe as much, or as little, of that as you want.
