  • Gamemaster's large stature is a clear indicator of his personality. He is arrogant, cocky, and blunt. Like his daughter, he is not afraid of talking back at people when they insult him in any manner. Supported by his size, he is very aggressive when in battle. Despite his arrogance, he will compliment someone should they surpass his expectations (the only spirit of sportsmanship he shows). He does not fret or lose his cool when in a dire situation maintaining focus and avoiding lapses in concentration.
  • The Game Master (GM) is the human person at the gaming table who controls the Non-player characters (NPCs), as opposed to the Player Characters who are controlled by the Players. The Game Master creates the plot and story of the session, he arbitrates over rules disputes, and he describes what effects the PCs actions have.
  • The Sryth Gamemaster, affectionately referred to as the GM, is the creator, writer, programmer and maintainer of this game. His real name is Matthew Yarrows. From the middle of year 2007, Sryth has been his full-time job. You can see how much he's developed it in Game Updates. You can learn a lot about the GM in Questions for the GM, where he has been so kind as to answer a lot of questions from players. __TOC__
  • You could recognise gamemasters by the abbreviation "GM" at the beginning of their name. Also, gamemasters wore a special blue outfit which was not available to regular players. Gamemasters could send messages in red text and also broadcast them to the entire server to make sure people will pay attention to what they are saying. Finally, please note that since gamemasters were standard in-game player characters they were permanently level 2. Before their removal - read below - possible candidates to gamemaster job were chosen by CipSoft.

The act performed by a Gamemaster is sometimes referred to as "Gamemastering" or simply "GM'ing". The role of a Gamemaster in a traditional role-playing game is to weave the other participants' player-character stories together, control the non-player aspects of the game, create environments in which the players can interact, and solve any player disputes. The basic role of the Gamemaster is the same in almost all traditional role-playing games, although differing rule sets make the specific duties of the Gamemaster unique to that system. The role of a Gamemaster in an online game is to enforce the game's rules and provide general customer service. Also, unlike Gamemasters in traditional role-playing games, Gamemasters for online games in some cases are paid employees. For both Ragnarok Online and Ragnarok Online II, all Gamemasters are paid employees that are only hired from outside of the games via official career sites. Never will a Gamemaster hire from within the games they host.
