Carl Steven was a former child actor who voiced the junior high version of Freddie Jones on A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. He had on-screen roles on Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and as a young Spock on Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. In 1996 before his retirement, he had a brief recurring role on the Weird Science TV series. He became addicted to prescription medications after a tonsillectomy, and stole to support his addiction. Steven was sentenced to 13 years in prison for armed robbery in 2009. He died two years later on July 31, 2011, due to a heroin overdose while in prison in Arizona.

He is survived by his widow and child. Steven is the Peanuts actor to have had the shortest life span, not including any surviving actors under 36, current or former.
