| - Huntington's Chorea, also known as Huntington's Disease (HD) is an inherited neurological disease that causes certain nerve cells in the brain to waste away. Those afflicted with the disease are born with the defective gene responsible for the disease, although symptoms don't start appearing until middle age. Early symptoms of the disease might include uncontrolled movements, clumsiness, or balance problems, with later symptoms taking away the ability to walk, talk, or swallow. In some cases, it also causes lost memories of family members, while in others, they are aware of their environment and able to express emotions.

Early symptoms of the disease might include uncontrolled movements, clumsiness, or balance problems, with later symptoms taking away the ability to walk, talk, or swallow. In some cases, it also causes lost memories of family members, while in others, they are aware of their environment and able to express emotions. Nora Fries was afflicted with this disease. Dr. Victor Fries, a researcher at GothCorp, proceeded to place her into cryogenic stasis, desperate to have her survive the disease and find a cure. Ferris Boyle, intrigued by Fries' success in placing his wife into cryostasis, recruited him into his cryogenic weapons development program with the promise that he fund the research for developing a cure. However, Fries became aware that Boyle had no intention of actually fulfilling his end of the bargain and proceeded to secretly conduct his own research on finding a cure. This eventually resulted in the lab accident that turned him into Mr. Freeze.
