A native of Anaxes, he came from a family of navy men. At age seventeen Vondar joined one of the planet's many naval academies, becoming a lieutenant as the Clone Wars broke out. Surviving the conflict and becoming a captain, he was one of the first officers of the Imperial Navy that was formed in 19 BBY, when the Republic became the Empire. By the time the Galactic Civil War broke out, Vondar reached the rank of High Admiral. Throughout the conflict he saw little action due to roles as the commander of defense fleets. After the deaths of the Emperor and Darth Vader at Endor in 4 ABY, he remained loyal to the central government, unlike many of his comrades. For this loyalty, he was awarded command of the Executor-class Star Destroyer Megador, along with a fleet of ten Imperial-class Star Destroyers. Vondar used it to pacify rebellious systems and go on offensives against the advancing New Republic. For his loyalty and tactical genius, he was among the six officers elevated to the rank of Grand Admiral in 10 ABY by the reborn Palpatine.
