- Holly Huckins is executive producer of Disney Junior's animated television series Sheriff Callie's Wild West, the first Western for preschoolers. Huckins also developed the series for television. She co-created and served as co-executive producer on Disney's hit animated series Higglytown Heroes, which premiered on Playhouse Disney in 2004 and currently airs on the 24-hour Disney Junior channel. Huckins began her career in New York City as an experimental filmmaker, but an opportunity to work for Martin Scorsese quickly convinced her that her true calling was entertainment. She worked her way up in the industry, working primarily in feature films as an editor and writer, and broke into animation when she was invited to join the writing staff of Rugrats. She wrote the episodes The Inside Story and Party Animals. In 1996, she went on to serve as story editor on Disney's Recess, leaving the series in 1999 to become the show runner on Angela Anaconda for the Fox Family Channel. Since then, she has written for numerous children’s television shows in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and France, including work for all the major US broadcasters. Some of her favorite credits include Skunk Fu, Totally Spies, Jungle Junction, Curious George, Olivia! and Land Before Time. Three-time Daytime Emmy Award nominee, Huckins has also been a member of Oscar winning sound editing teams, and has herself been nominated for the MPSE Golden Reel award. A native of Michigan, Huckins received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She went on to graduate school at Columbia University where she earned her master's degree in architecture. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, and has a grown daughter now living in Brooklyn.
