Brandy Hall was a house built by Gorhendad Oldbuck in Buckland, who changed his name to "Brandybuck". It covered a low hill in Buckland and was expanded as the Brandybuck family grew. By the time of the War of the Ring, the hall had "three large front-doors, many side-doors, and about a hundred windows." The Gaffer referred to it as "a regular warren." It was Frodo's childhood home before he was taken in by his uncle Bilbo Baggins. The head of that family was called the Master of the Hall, and his authority was acknowledged between the villages of Stock and Rushey.

| - 約700年近くもの間、ブランディ館の数々の窓から漏れる暖かい光は、ブランディワイン川の西からバック郷へ渡る多くの者を迎え入れてきた。初代ブランディ館の領主ゴーヘンダード・オールドブランディバック（ブランディバック一族の長の名称）によって建造され、代々増築されてきた。ブランディバック一族の先祖代々の邸宅であるブランディ館は、ブランディワインの東岸にあるバックの丘全体に行き渡っている幾多の地下道と部屋から成り立っている。ブランディ館はその正面玄関を少なくとも3ヶ所に構えており、また100以上の窓を持ち、ホビット庄の中でも最も壮大な館の一つである。指輪の仲間が結成される前の遥か昔、幼少時代に孤児となったフロド・バギンズは、後にホビット村の袋小路屋敷に住む老いたビルボ・バギンズの養子となるまでの何年もの間、ブランディ館を我が家と思っていた。フロドのいとこであり、また、一つの指輪と共にモルドールへ向かう指輪の仲間の一員であったメリー・ブランディバックも、この偉大な館を我が家と呼んでいたことがある。
ブランディ館は、何世代にも渡るブランディバック一族やいとこたち、そして何百人もの親族の邸宅であったばかりでなく、ホビット庄の歴史を綴った数々の本を保管している館でもある。これらの文献は、後にメリー・ブランディバックがブランディ館に戻り、自らがバック郷領主となってからその数を著しく増やすこととなる… が、これについてはまた別の機会に語るとしよう。
ブランディ館は殆ど地下に建設されているが、バックの丘の中とその周辺に建つ大部分は遥か遠くからも見える。また実際、バックル村全体はこの館を囲む丘や土手沿いに築かれている。ブランディ館は村の中心地に位置し、何代にも渡る増築によってその広大な小高い丘は見事な邸宅およびバック郷の重要な集会場所へと姿を変えてきたのである。この地方に旅する者は、東の高垣という名の村を守る生け垣のすぐ先にある神秘的な古森へと冒険に出掛ける前に、バック郷の気さくなホビットと語り合ったり、売買したりする時間を持ちたくなるに違いない。
