- When we first hear the name Giacomo in Dead Ice it is used for a few times in reference to one of the two Harlequin werelions Anita and Jean-Claude acquired at the same time (presumably 'Thing one' and 'Thing two' from Hit List, the second one being Magda), but unless there are two Harlequin with the same name that name was later transferred to Magda's master. That Giacomo is a master vampire centuries older than Jean-Claude, and one we meet for the first time in Crimson Death. This article assumes that the latter naming is considered canonically more weighty and 'Thing one' will eventually get a new name.
- The son of renowned scientist and technician Georg, Giacomo became a skilled warrior at a young age, setting him apart from the other members of his hometown of Azha. By the age of 13, he was an extremely skilled scythe-wielder and had become an Imperial warrior enlisted in The Dark Service. Even though he was 13, he had never been defeated in battle until he met Sagi. He then took a particular dislike to Sagi and trained to defeat him. Though he became even more powerful, he was still no match for Sagi. His extreme rivalry with Sagi came to an end after being defeated by him several times, the last time in Rodolfo's Mansion in Pherkad.
